Intake Instructions about Tramadol for Health Professionals
Patients depend on health professionals not only for the permission
to buy effective prescription medicines but also for specific
instructions on the use of the drugs. To be able to help patients stay
safe while using Tramadol, health professionals should know how to
properly take Tramadol.
Tramadol comes in tablet
form. There are two types of tablets: the regular one, and the
extended-release tablet, which has effects that last longer. These
tablets are for oral intake. Tramadol can be taken with or without
food at a schedule that is consistent all throughout the period of
intake. The regular Tramadol can be taken every 6 hours, while the
extended-release tablet can keep pain away for an entire day already.
Tramadol should be taken in the dosage recommended, and never over as
this might cause overdose and even fatal side effects. Tramadol should
be taken in whole. It should never be split or crushed because doing
so might speed up the release of the active ingredients in Tramadol.
Uncontrolled release might be too intense for the system to take. And
since Tramadol has a lot of potential side effects, patients should be
put on a low-dose schedule first to check whether it will yield any
harmful effects. Dosages can be increased accordingly after that.
Finally, Tramadol is addictive, so intake should be limited to only
what has been prescribed.
