Tramadol Interactions with Other Drugs
Tramadol can produce
dangerous effects when mixed with other drugs. Thus, before your
doctor gives you a prescription for Tramadol, make sure that he knows
about all the drugs and vitamin supplements that you are taking. This
is for your own personal safety. Dangerous drug interactions may cause
dangerous side effects such as seizures.
Tramadol should not be taken in combination with MAO inhibitors like
isocarboxazid
or
tranylcypromine, and antidepressants like
fluoxetine,
fluvoxamine,
and many others. Tramadol may also react negatively when combined with
use of
carbamazepine,
ketoconazole, erythromycin,
digoxin, among many
other drugs. Ask your doctor for more information about dangerous
Tramadol interactions to be safe. Also, if you are taking Tramadol,
keep away from cold medications, muscle relaxants, seizure
medications, and other pain meds, especially those with narcotic
contents just like Tramadol. And since Tramadol already causes
sleepiness, avoid sleeping pills and alcoholic beverages that can
intensify this effect. Your doctor can tell you everything that you
should avoid when medicating with Tramadol, so be sure to follow his
instructions strictly.
